History

Sellerie artisanale

If the image of France is associated all around the world with luxury, elegance and style, the craftsmen from Romans and its surrounding are players in the crafting of leather.
In the heart of the Rhône-Alpes, France’s leading industrial region, the Drôme des Collines has learnt how to enhance its highly specialist economic environment to become the unrivalled location for the creation and production of luxury shoes and the whole leather industry.

Emerging from a strong manufacturing tradition in Romans, the leather industry has always been guided by 2 key words: quality and creativity.

They are unmistakable representatives of the companies from this region and either large or small, their savoir-faire allows them to stand out on the international fashion scene and to impose a style combining innovation and wisdom, tradition and modernity.

THE INTERNATINAL SHOE MUSEUM

From ancient to modern times, across five continents, the International Shoe Museum invites you to discover the models of the most famous shoemakers and designers (Pérugia, Vivier, Hellstem…) and the most prestigious fashion designers (Hermès, Charles Jourdan, Joseph Fénestier…).
In the heart of Romans, the visitors can discover permanent collections as well as numerous temporary exhibitions on this beautiful site of the Convent of the Visitation.
Designers and stylists have access to the “shoe library” and its unlimited source of inspiration.
