STEDI was created in 1973 by Dino STEFANATO. The company has progressively grown and today employs around ten people.
Mr STEFANATO retired in 1992 but the company remains family-owned as his son-in-law and his daughter (Mr and Mrs Deliaud) took over.
Activities:
STEDI specialises in the manufacture of cutting dies, tools used to cut light materials such as leather, toile, foam…
To begin with, the clients were mainly composed of companies dealing with leather in the Romans area but STEDI learned how to diversify over the years.
Today the customers are leather craftsmen, shoemakers but also manufacturers of materials for helmets (firemen, army…) spread across France and Belgium.
Savoir-faire:
The STEDI savoir-faire relies on experience, accuracy and expertise of its employees. The company relies on a young team but with many years of specialised knowledge and who takes pleasure in a job well done. There is no specific training for this activity; only a transfer of knowledge within the company, similar to an apprenticeship.
Nevertheless the profiles we look for are cutting die workers / fitting workers and turners / milling machine operators.
The machines are used to carry out different operations but nothing replaces the traditional handmade savoir-faire.
Today STEDI is equipped with a cutting machine for patterns in order to better serve their clients requests.
Each cutting die is different and produced per unit, so there is no boredom and the tasks are varied. In order to solve some of the problems raised by their clients requests, they must be prepared to do some soul searching!
STEDI also provides a repair and grinding service for cutting dies.
